The Chronicles of Nani On Video

I am overcoming my inability to type with my ability to talk (and talk and talk and talk) I'll be posting a video every week on my YouTube channel. I'll be posting those videos here too along with an occasional regular blog in the mix. (As long as my hands are up to doing the extra typing.)

You'll be able to watch the videos here, but I encourage you to stop by my channel at YouTube once I'm up and running to follow me and get my numbers started!

Meet Me On Monday

Monday Mug Shot will return next week! I took a very consumed, but very relaxing day off yesterday and I still have a lofty to-do list for this week. I’d say why I didn’t visit any blogs yesterday, or that I wish I could just take some time off, but these things are covered in Meet Me On Monday this week, so let’s get started!

Meet Me On Monday

Acting Balanced

1. Did you prank, get pranked or ignore April Fool's Day?

As a rule on April First I stay away from online, the phone or media in general and I try to stay home. I’m not a fan of “April Fools Day” at all. I won’t go on a tangent, but if you have to try, it’s not usually funny (morning radio shows?) and too often pranks are so over the top that someone gets hurt, physically or emotionally. I much prefer Halloween as a holiday where we all act like kids. IMO, there is seldom anything funny about April Fools Day.

2. What is the most unusual thing you have in your pantry or refrigerator right now?

I have a half a turkey carcass in the freezer. Pop brought me the carcass in 2 giant zip-locs and I still have broth left from the first half. We also have 1 scrapple left that we bought in New Jersey last December.

But, pantry or fridge… I don’t think any of the stuff in our cupboards is strange, but that’s because it’s normal for us! I have instant espresso; I buy 2 jars when I order my Italian stuff at Christmas so I have it on hand all year. I’ve also been making my coffee in the My K-Cup adapter often lately. I had a half can of Colombian and a brick of espresso that my Aunt brought from Italy. I mixed the two and came up with an awesome blend, robust with a slight touch of bitter. Brewed as a regular cup of coffee with a tablespoon of Coffeemate, it’s wonderful! We also have a jar of Nutella, a treat I’ve loved since I was a kid and David discovered after a trip to Argentina before we met. I have a bag of almond flour, a box of peanut soup mix and lots of spices, including three different kinds of cinnamon.

But I don’t think it’s unusual. I just haven’t seen all of these things in someone else’s house. Pops pantry is close, but no almond flour and only one kind of cinnamon.

3. If you were in the "Miss America" (or another) talent competition, what would your talent be?

I’d probably do a comedy rant that makes you laugh but also make you think, about “handicap” bathrooms.

4. What is one thing you miss about being a kid?

Being able to sit around and have a goof-off day without guilt. I called those days June, July and August then. :)

5. If you HAD to change your name, what would you change it to?

I’d be Manuela, Mani for short. See, then when I go to a baseball game for my 50th birthday and they put “Welcome to Manifest” on the scoreboard, it will be spelled right!

(For my 40th, they put “Welcome to Manifest” on the scoreboard, even though David spelled Nanifest correctly when he ordered it!)

I don't usually do April Fool pranks, but it's because I've never been very good at it. However, this year I did do a little prank. It was fun, in a little sort of way.

As a youngster and through junior hig, I did not like my name. But when I got to high school and realized how rare it seemed to be, I began to really like it. As an adult I learned that quite a lot of ancestral history came with the name so now I like it a lot. I don't think I would want to change it. You have a wonderful day, hugs, Edna B.

Not a fan of the April First pranks/jokes either...fortunately, neither is anyone else in my house, so we generally ignore it, and go on like it's any other day. I did get a few laughs out of some friends Facebook statuses, though....

Hey Nani! I do not really care for April Fools either. I am glad it was on the weekend and not on a day I had to work. Kids at school seem to love the day and like you say most of the pranks are not really very funny!

Hope you have a great Monday!

I am not a fan of April Fool's Day either! I have never thought about having a different name. I guess I like mine.

Excellent read Nani.....I like the idea of 'goof off days' being June July and August. But wait...other than the mundane chores of being at home, my days are not scheduled, I guess I have more than SIX months as goof off days. Love your Name Change too.
