The Chronicles of Nani On Video

I am overcoming my inability to type with my ability to talk (and talk and talk and talk) I'll be posting a video every week on my YouTube channel. I'll be posting those videos here too along with an occasional regular blog in the mix. (As long as my hands are up to doing the extra typing.)

You'll be able to watch the videos here, but I encourage you to stop by my channel at YouTube once I'm up and running to follow me and get my numbers started!

The Monday After...

Cluster made with Espresso Italiano by Violamoni

Good snowy Monday morning! Although it’s a little later now, after breakfast and all, I managed to wake up just one minute before the alarm today. We went to bed a little late, but sleeping all the way to the alarm is a good thing for me! I say snowy, but it’s just a little snow right now; we’re expecting up to 3 inches today last I heard. No, that doesn’t thrill me, but espresso with breakfast helps me deal. ;)

I’m hearing great reviews of the Taco Bell ad yesterday with the octogenarians escaping the retirement home and doing crazy 20-something things including a late night trip to Taco Bell. Humph… Whatever; I didn’t like it. Maybe it’s because I don’t like the song. Maybe because I don’t like the idea that people are obsessed with wanting to be 20-something. I enjoyed being 20-something when I was 20-something but I don’t want to be it again. I enjoy being 40-something just fine. When I’m in my 80s, I might want an occasional Taco Bell, like I occasionally do now, but not because I want to pretend I’m in my 20s; it’ll be just because I’m in the mood for American mexicanish fast food. Maybe I’m overanalyzing but I didn’t find the spot to be good or funny.

The game was more exciting that it should have been. It wasn’t so much good as it was an interesting sway of momentum before and after the early in the second half partial blackout. I’m glad it didn’t happen before the opening kick-off return. I wanted Baltimore to win; I’ve liked Joe Flacco since he was a rookie. I did enjoy the Twilight Zone moments where my favorite ad seemed to have predicted the San Francisco come back and in 30 seconds prevented their win! Regardless of the outcome of the game, it was still a great ad, but with the outcome, it became an ominously powerful ad! Not bad for a one time only shelf-life on the spot!

Okay, no more football, advertising or espresso talks. Let’s join Heather and Wayne at Acting Balanced and Touristic respectively for the Monday Quiz About Me.

1. Are you good about going to the doctor?

I have to be now, but I wasn’t so much in the past. Now (I have doctors that make me schedule ahead and call me when they haven’t seen me in a while. I actually call that a quality of a good doctor now!

2. What do you think about the practice of restaurants adding automatic tips for large groups or specific events?

I think it’s a shame that so many groups tip low enough that it’s considered necessary. I don’t think a server’s tips should be considered part of their wage. Minimum wage is minimum and should be the full base of pay for a minimum wage position. No one is hanging out at the door threatening to call the police if a customer doesn’t leave a tip because it’s not mandatory. If anything a tip is a gift a customer gives for service and it should never be taxed. A server’s wage is what they are paid by their employer and tips are gifts and therefore not taxable.

Oh, and the story that made this a topical issue? The woman is the absolute worst example of a Christian ever. The whole eat fish during lent came from a time when the fishermen were the poor people and the sacrifice was to support the poor by eating fish, not at all a fish dinner in a nice restaurant. (A better Lenten sacrifice is a ham sandwich from a local sandwich shop) So given that, I’d think an 18% tip, when the actual average people leave is closer to 20, would unquestionably be part of that 10% to God because it’s more “doing His work” than having fancy new gilded hymnals with that 10% donated by everyone at church.

3. When was the last time you went out for dinner?

On our anniversary, December 23, we went to Mancy’s Italian Grille…and we both had fish.

4. What is your best budget saving tip for recovering from an unexpected expense or planning for one?

Unexpected expenses for me are almost always medical. I’ve found that the hospitals are really good about making arrangements for payment plans so you can pay a large, to you, bill on installments. They’re even great about updating the installment plan without raising the payment when you have another bill that comes in. Much as I hate copays, I love the fact that the hospital work with me so I can manage to get the testing done that I need.

And don't forget to add a 5th Question on your own blog so we can answer as we hop around!

5. What is your favorite coffee or tea, just your number one favorite. (even I am going to pick just one for my answer! LOL) If you don’t drink coffee or tea, How do you feel about tap versus bottled water?

And practicing brevity, but not by saying I’m practicing brevity first; my favorite is Starbucks Verona.

I drink both coffee and tea.I am very fussy about how both are prepared. The best coffee I drink is made bu my hubby. On our last cruise I complained about the coffee and finally had one of the staff make it for me every day. She did a great job. I also need hot water poured over my tea bag and the milk in last. No putting the teabag on the side. Being so fussy I don't drink either from Stabucks or other places.

Waters water if you ask me.

I have always loved the smell of regular coffee but could never stand the taste of it. I can, however, now drink one from Starbucks only because it has chocolate in it. Who knew putting chocolate in a coffee makes it tolerable. Now I get the instant packs from Starbucks and a package of hot cocoa and mix it together for home consumption.

I have to agree with you on the most horrible example of a Christian being that woman who left that note for the waitress. A professing Christian would NOT, by any means, have any malice in their intent, whatsoever.

I have 2 favorite coffees that unfortunately are no longer made. =(
The Gloria Jean brand of Cappuccino and the Green Mountain brand of Autumn Harvest. Other than that, I drink Folgers, Green Mountain Mocha Nut Fudge, and Vanilla Biscotti from Folgers.
Have a great day! Kelly xoxo

I don't drink coffee or tea anymore, but I used to love Luzianne iced tea. I like bottled water, but have settled for a Brita water pitcher instead!

By the way, I didn't especially like the Taco Bell commercial either!

I drink Bustelo coffee, it's an espresso blend. As for tea, I don't drink a whole lot of it but I do love me some Southern sweet tea.

First to YOUR question...I love mint tea best. But any kind of hot tea or iced tea with lemon satisfies me a lot. As for the bottled water vs. tap water...after living a decade in Tucson with the tap water smelling like sewer water [they have aquifers there and I don't think it's filtered correctly]...I have continued buying bottled water.

Now for your super bowl section. This year is the 2nd year in a row that we have had no cable and not able to watch the game....for that, I am SUPER delighted. But, I'm glad the Ravens won...tho, it would've been okay if the 49rs won since the Giants won the World Series.

I don't care for Starbucks coffee. I don't like flavors and dessert trimmings in my coffee. I do like the coffee at McDonalds. It's Paul Newman. It's the one I stop for when I am out.

As for the water, I only drink Spring Water. For the last 40 years or so, the color and odor of tap water has turned me off to it. I like my water clear and fresh tasting.

Now I'm off to feed my little guy. He's been so good waiting for me to have a little nap. You have a wonderful day. Hugs, Edna B.
