The Chronicles of Nani On Video

I am overcoming my inability to type with my ability to talk (and talk and talk and talk) I'll be posting a video every week on my YouTube channel. I'll be posting those videos here too along with an occasional regular blog in the mix. (As long as my hands are up to doing the extra typing.)

You'll be able to watch the videos here, but I encourage you to stop by my channel at YouTube once I'm up and running to follow me and get my numbers started!

Creativity Monday

Cluster made with Because of You by Digitalegacies Designs

Hello there!

I’m posting late today because I was working on a scrapbook layout. Here me out here. I’m working on catching up a few years’ worth of photo folders to be done before I can even think about proofreading and getting my funds saved for printing, so there is a LOT of work to be done! I have lots of templates; freebies I’ve collected over the years while I was collecting photos and scrapping every four days…or weeks; that’s how I got so far behind! That and really, when I was selling my kits at Scrap Bird for a half a year, I designed and I did NO scrapping of my own. That was the nicest thing about the decision to quit designing is getting to scrap again. I do enjoy designing once in a while, but I like scrapping a lot more. So the templates make getting great looking pages done much quicker, even though I usually use the templates as a base and alter or add to them to make it my style. I can usually get a page done in an hour or two if I sit down and do nothing but work on the page. Usually, I have photo shop open and work on a page here and there while I’m doing a ton of other things, so a page is often an all-day affair. But I can punch out 3 or 4 pages on a Saturday while David is at work. Still my goal is always one page a day.

The page I started this morning I had a definite idea in my mind for the look, unfortunately, there was a main part of the layout I don’t have. I searched for a freebie, a base, a relatively inexpensive piece; nothin'. I found a commercial use set that was way more than I was prepared to spend on one page. So it took a few hours, but I made the piece! I remain vague about it because after all that work, I’m going to package it as a freebie for this week and I’ll unveil it then,

While my creativity seemed to be on board this morning, so was the hiss and growl fest. The cats are getting better, really they are.  It’s just a slow process. I have to keep reminding myself that it was 6 weeks before there started to be peace with Kaline and Baggle when Carla joined the family. Patience Nani, patience.

So there was the start of my day. Then it was wash hair, lunch, dishes…Oh, blog! That brings us to here and now. The end of the workday version of the Monday Quiz About me with Acting Balanced and Touristic!

1. If you could go to any festival or event in the world; which one would you choose?

I’d love to go to the World Series again, preferably with one of my teams, even better if it’s Reds AND Tigers, but nothing beats the electricity in the air at a top echelon playoff game.

2. What is the first sign you see that tells you spring is near?

Spring is near when the crocuses bud.

3. When you were in school did you do your projects as soon as they were assigned or as close to the last minute as possible?

I procrastinated until I had the “bug assignment” in 7th grade. We had to kill bugs, mount them on a board and identify them. I hated the assignment. Not that the bugs were an issue, it was killing them. With the exception of those 8-legged things, I agree with David that they get swatted or squished when they’re in the house, but in their house, I’m the invader. I hated killing them. I put it off, collected them the week before the assignment was due and after leaving them in a jar while I was gone for the weekend, I got home Sunday planning to put them on a board and they were covered in a wispy white mold! Mom helped me try to wash off and recover them, but I didn’t have enough for the required number of bugs. I was devastated. I was told to kill things, I killed things and I still ended up with a bad grade for the project.

To this day I still think there should be an alternative research project for things like that.

I learned two things from that project. First, if you tell a teacher that you think the requirements of the project are immoral, they usually WILL give you an alternate assignment. Second, ever after that and in work and social projects too, I get it done as soon after receiving the assignment as I can do it with quality.

4. Would you rather have the power to be invisible or the power to read minds?

I’d rather be invisible when I wanted to be. I fear reading minds would be depressing. None of us are as smart as people think we are!

And don't forget to add a 5th Question on your own blog so we can answer as we hop around!

5. What winter/sprog temperature is warm enough for you want to be outside? (Please put your temp in Fahrenheit and Celsius – easy converter here: http://www.wbuf.noaa.gov/tempfc.htm )

If it’s sunny and I can wear a jacket that isn’t too bulky, I’ll stay outside to wait for the bus, shop at an outdoor shopping center etc… I used to go back to the park to walk when the ice was gone from the paved trails and I could keep from shivering without a parka, so I’ll go back out by choice at about 45F/ 7C, but I really prefer it to be about 50F/10C

Upper 60's to low 70's will see me outdoors, especially if the sun is out. In South Florida, temps in the 40's is considered frigid.

Here's hoping you will see the Jays in the World Series this year.

I agree about killing things for school projects. It should not be mandatory for everyone. I don't like killing things either, and would have to accept a bad grade too.

Actually, I don't mind swatting house flies, fleas, ticks, mosquitos, that sort of thing. I'm not even sure why we have to have these things.

New sprouts on my rose bush tell me that Spring is on its way. You have a wonderful day, hugs, Edna B.
