The Chronicles of Nani On Video

I am overcoming my inability to type with my ability to talk (and talk and talk and talk) I'll be posting a video every week on my YouTube channel. I'll be posting those videos here too along with an occasional regular blog in the mix. (As long as my hands are up to doing the extra typing.)

You'll be able to watch the videos here, but I encourage you to stop by my channel at YouTube once I'm up and running to follow me and get my numbers started!

Desserts, Love and Movies

Cluster created with My Funny Valentine by EllenM Creations

I know I skipped Cyber-town for a week, what’s up with that? Well, last week was my first full week of therapy for my neck and upper back and really, it’s more exhausting than I thought it would be. I was tired and kinda uninspired creatively last week. I have a little more energy today, we’ll see if it lasts all week!

I didn’t miss Valentine’s Day, though! I took David out to Red Lobster for fish dinner last Wednesday and we did an at-home movie night on the actual day. The best find at Red Lobster was dessert! They have a trio sampler with caramel cheesecake and, wait for it…. Chocolate Brownie a la mode AND Key Lime Pie!

I did this scrapbook layout on that subject:

Credits: Chocolate Delight by Digi Scrap SA, El Mojito by
Twin Mom Scraps and Is This Love by Colie’s Corner

With the Trio Sampler, no more cheating on Chocolate…It’s a threesome, well, foursome with the cheesecake. They could really do a Duo Sampler for me, but the cheesecake was good, I won’t look a gift-dessert in the plate!

Back to a normal blog-week, I hope, I’m joining Heather at Acting Balanced and Wayne at Touristic for this week’s Monday Quiz.

1. Who was the last person you said “I love you” to?

Okay, new answer. David was reading over my shoulder and didn’t want the answer to be yesterday, so he said “I love you” to me and insisted I say it back so I had a better answer. So…

Just a couple minutes ago; just because.

2. What was the last non-kid friendly movie you saw?

We watched Red State on Valentine’s Day. Not really a Valentine’s Day type movie, but a good, kinda haunting movie. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0873886/

3. When was the last time you got angry about something that you felt silly about later?

I don’t get truly angry about things that aren’t important to me. I don’t really recall anything...

4. What is your favorite object at this moment?

My Nook

It’s my favorite object at many moments except when I’m putting stuff in my Smash Book, then my Smash Book is my favorite object. Well, that and whichever coffee mug I’m drinking out of, so my coffee cup is my favorite object. Of course, my coffee cup really only works with my Keurig brewer, so my Nook, my Smash Book, my coffee mug and my Keurig Brewer and I don’t have any other favorite objects. Well, and my bracelets, I always love my bracelets. So, my Nook, my Smash Book, my coffee mug, my Keurig brewer and my bracelets, and that’s all. Oh and my lip balm! I gotta have my lip balm…

That and the movie question just threw me back a few movie years. Do you know what movie I paraphrased? :)

And don't forget to add a 5th Question on your own blog so we can answer as we hop around!

This week’s question five is courtesy of my personal blog red pen. David wants to know…

5. Does bad internet spelling and grammar bother you? Why or why not?

My answer:

It depends. When I’m reading someone’s blog, and I really hope when they’re reading mine, I am forgiving about little mistakes because we all make them. I’m a little less forgiving for spelling and grammatical errors on professional sites. On a professional site or blog attention to the work should be the priority and the writers should be undistracted by crying kids, a whistling tea kettle or a dog that wants out like writers of personal blogs often are. Reading an article on a professional site should be as error-free as a text book, magazine or newspaper. A personal blog can be more relaxed like you’re sitting in someone’s living room having coffee. You won’t stop drinking coffee with someone because they make a grammatical mistake, but you might reconsider buying a product if a sales rep can’t speak the language correctly when making the pitch.

One thing that does drive me to the brink of my head exploding are mistakes that are repeated, signifying that the writer doesn’t know the correct spelling, grammar or even words. Even the smartest and most studied of us will occasionally make a he/him or their/there mistake. My personal biggest demon is using the apostrophe in the possessive of it; THAT one makes my husband’s head explode. But you won’t see me repeat that mistake in a comment because I know it’s wrong. When the same mistake is made consistently, it means the writer doesn’t know and it’s usually words or grammar that you should never get out of high school not knowing. That evidence of the “dumbing down of society” makes me sad.

I agree with you on the grammatical errors of professional "writers". "Thier", "there", THEIR (whew! =) job IS grammar and text. It's what they get the "big money" for. I've been seeing so many examples of the "dumbing-down" of our society recently, especially in the online news community. Incomplete sentences, misspelled words, and absolute nonsense in major news networks. It's really disturbing to me. (I won't lose any sleep over it, but still...)

Okay, I am probably guilty of the "it's" and the "it's". I will have to look that one up again because I don't like to be using bad English. On the other hand, I do say things like "gotta" etc.

Just hopped on over to Google. It's (it is or it has) versus its (possessive). Okay, I'm good now. I used to know all this stuff, but now I have all I can handle just trying to remember my name. lol.

The last person I said "I love you" to -- everytime I talk with my children and grands and great grands, we say I love you when we part. As children, my brother and I did not hear this much, so I made sure that my kids heard it all the time. I say it to Pogo several times a day too.

I can go home (from work) in a little while, so you have a great day, hugs, Edna B.

Yes, they bother me much. We all lead busy lives with a thousand hats in the air and I can excuse the typos and occasional mistakes. A lot of the genuine types of mistakes can be fixed by observing and paying attention to how others write.

Hi Nani!
We spent the weekend in Columbus. We were there to see Kathy's niece in a volleyball tournament. However today we spent our time shopping and eating and I think I have more proof of our bloodline. Just before we left for home we picked up some cheesecake to go from the cheesecake factory. Kathy & Katie's both had a chocolate theme. But mine was key lime cheesecake!

And my last "I love you" was to Katie as I was putting her to bed. Now I better go before I write something that makes your head explode......I wouldn't want to do that!

I try to be as correct as possible but I find a typo in probably every third post I do. That perhaps has something to do with most of my posts being written at 5:00 AM. I cut slack most of the time as a result. Thanks for linking up with the MQAM.
