We were on our way to Dayton to see the Dayton Dragons game last night and leaving early, we took some back roads to photograph a few trains. When driving through Putnam County we saw a lot of the damage that still remains after a nasty storm on June 29 that knocked out power in the whole county for days. There weren’t any tornadoes, but winds up to 80 MPH in that very destructive storm.

The house of wood didn’t withstand the Big Bad Wolf; if you see a barn you want in your photo collection, it’s not a guarantee that there will be a day with better light! I’m really glad I take my “safety shots” when I see the Bicentennial Barns, even if the lighting could be better at the time!

OH MY GOD, that's heart wrenching to see that old 1809 barn DESTROYED... That's awful! I'm terribly sorry! This is of little consolation, but the wood can still be reused, surely, for something... I'm very emotional & this has brought tears to my eyes... The owners must be devastated!
So sad the bicentennial barn was destroyed. I hope the wood can be rescued and used someway.
