The Chronicles of Nani On Video

I am overcoming my inability to type with my ability to talk (and talk and talk and talk) I'll be posting a video every week on my YouTube channel. I'll be posting those videos here too along with an occasional regular blog in the mix. (As long as my hands are up to doing the extra typing.)

You'll be able to watch the videos here, but I encourage you to stop by my channel at YouTube once I'm up and running to follow me and get my numbers started!

The Day After

Congratulations to the &#^$%* San Francisco Giants who are the 2012 World Series Champions. The Giants played some amazing clutch baseball this October and may very well be the new “most-hated” team in baseball in Nani’s world. Of course, sports hate is usually the utmost respect, for how great can my teams be if they aren’t beaten by the best, right? Still, the Giants ability to capitalize on ONE base running error in game 3 of the Division Series with Cincinnati made the difference between them getting swept in that series and gaining the necessary momentum to snatch the series from elimination. Of course, I think beating both of my teams in their houses was just mean, but somehow I don’t think the Giants’ fans cared where they won. They won in 2010 and now this year, and they need to stop for a while so their fans don’t become jaded, okay?

Seriously, well played Giants.

I’m sending good thoughts, wishes and prayers for everyone in the path of Sandy’s wrath. It’s definitely looking like Sandy will be everything they feared Irene would be last year. I have friends and family in the areas that are promised to get hit. Please, please, please, everyone be careful and safe the next few days! Check in when you can and as often as you can to let us all know you’re okay. I know here, all the way in Toledo, we’re expecting 40 MPH sustained winds tonight, nothing compared to the coast, but I know I’m grounded. I’m just not stable enough on my feet to even get down the three steps to the driveway to go anywhere without getting knocked over!

Okay, let’s get on with the week, shall we?

Welcome to The Monday Quiz About Me, Halloween Edition, brought to us by Acting Balanced and Touristic!

1. Do you consider Halloween a holiday for children or adults?

Adults can and should enjoy it an on occasion dress up and go to parties and such, but the actual night, when the kids are out begging, it’s all about them as far as I’m concerned. I just love treating the kids on Halloween!

2. At what age should children stop trick or treating?

I think kids should stop when they reach the age where they don’t feel comfortable doing it. If a 15-year old has the guts to dress up to go door to door for candy, let them have a piece of candy. Personally, no costume, no candy, but if you come to my door in costume, there will be candy. I also some years have truffles for parents accompanying their kids to the door.

3. What are your plans for Halloween?

Not to be anticlimactic, but as promised for a week, I’ll be in the seat of my walker, sitting at the front door for the 2 hours of official trick or treating. :)

4. What frightens you?

Spiders. I’m afraid of falling too, but spiders are definitely my craziest irrational fear.

And don't forget to add a 5th Question on your own blog so we can answer as we hop around!

5. Do you carve a jack-o-lantern for Halloween?

I carved my first and only jack-o-lantern in 2008. (It was SO much harder than my Dad ever made it look!)

It was pretty cool to have the pumpkin glowing and all, but for 2009 we switched to using pie pumpkins and David drew the faces on them. They weren’t lit up, but afterwards we had not only pumpkin seeds, like we had in 08, but I also made great pumpkin dishes!

I do carve jack-o-lanterns. I did mine a little too early this year - their faces are already sinking in.

Hubby used to take 6 hours to carve the pumpkin however when the kids left home I bought some plastic pumpkins - a lot less work.

OMG my daughter and son are terrified of spiders. She will get in a pitbull's face at work and calm him down, and my son is cop and has faced down some very scary situations...but a tiny tan house spider will make them both freak out.

I think if you're too old to enjoy Holidays, then you're probably too old for much of anything. Halloween is such fun!! I don't do pumpkins anymore. There's no one here to appreciate all the work.

They're showing some of the snow that Sandy is dumping in some states. Oh Lordy, I'm so glad this isn't snow up here. You have a wonderful day and stay dry. Hugs, Edna B.

I've never carved a pumpkin, and I don't think I ever will. I'm just not into it.

We are right in the path of the hurricane. I hope we have everything securely tied down.
Carving pumpkins is so much fun! I am not as good as some. In fact, mine tend to look like a 10 year old did it.
I hate spiders too. Any other insect I can handle, but not spiders!

I haven't carved a jack o' lantern myself. I have only watched others do so.

BTW, I like your costumes in the photo.
