The Chronicles of Nani On Video

I am overcoming my inability to type with my ability to talk (and talk and talk and talk) I'll be posting a video every week on my YouTube channel. I'll be posting those videos here too along with an occasional regular blog in the mix. (As long as my hands are up to doing the extra typing.)

You'll be able to watch the videos here, but I encourage you to stop by my channel at YouTube once I'm up and running to follow me and get my numbers started!

Monday Quiz About Me

Whew!  Full weekend! If you want to read about my computer trauma, that i hope is over now, and a few Secret Santa notes, be sure to check out last night's post.  This ought to be a busy catching up blog-posting week for me!

The Monday Quiz About Me is hosted by Heather at Acting Balanced and Wayne at Touristic. Every Monday we get 4 questions to share answers with other blog-hop members and a fifth question we ask our visitors. It’s a great way to get the week started!

1. What are you thankful for this year?

Having enough. I had to move some funds to afford my new computer and I was stressing about money. I’m not currently working and my investments are modest. My account rep was warning me about the election results and capital gains taxes would go up. At that moment I realized how fortunate I am that someone is seriously talking to me about “capital gains” when I have a disease that financially ruins so many. I’m thankful for that awakening.

2. What was your special dish that your parents made for you while growing up?

Ah, the world of young parents struggling to get a start in life! One of my favorites from childhood that Mom made, stretching the grocery budget in a way that felt more like a treat than any budget shaving, was Hot-Dog Soup; basically potato soup with hot dog chunks to add some protein. It was one of our favorites!

3. How long are you willing to wait for someone before you give up?

Patience is NOT one of my virtues! If I’m waiting for someone for more than 15 minutes past the appointed time, there’d better be phone call to let me know. (Unless it’s a job interview, then my time is all yours)

The one place I have a lot more tolerance for waiting is the doctor’s office. Yes, they should space appointments out a bit more, but I always bring my Nook to the doctor’s office. I’ve been the one throwing the doctor’s schedule off track with unplanned questions about the disease I was only partially prepared to learn I’d have the rest of my life. Getting that compassionate extra time without being told “I don’t have time to discuss this with you,” really made me see the doctor being late differently.

4. What is your favorite quote, poem, song lyric or prayer?

I have so many songs, passages and quotes that are part of my spiritual being I don’t believe I could ever pick one favorite. The quote I live by and think about every day is on my blog already, “I cannot control things that happen to me, but I'm the only one that controls how I react to things that happen to me.”

And don't forget to add a 5th Question on your own blog so we can answer as we hop around!

5. What is your favorite traditional holiday-season food? Let’s stick to food at meals, not sweets this week.

My favorite holiday food since childhood has been Mom’s sage turkey dressing. It’s my little bit of Mom still there for Thanksgiving.

I'm not sure I have a favorite holiday food...my kids love stuffing... I could live without it! I used to love Baskin Robbins peppermint fudge ribbon ice cream so I suppose Peppermint ice cream would be my answer....
Have a great thanksgiving!

My favorite holiday food is turkey/dressing. After years of hit and miss, I finally found a recipe that turns out every time, and tastes just like mama's.
